Mason Jar Photo Frames | Holly, Michigan Photographer

When I found this tutorial on how to make photo frames out of Mason jars I pretty much squealed with joy – seriously. A few months back at a wedding I photographed one of my brides used her engagement photos the very same way. Ever since then I’ve wanted to do this and it’s definitely exceeded my expectations.

If you’re looking for a unique, fun way to display photos or for a cool gift – here’s your ticket!

All you do is place a black and white photo inside a Mason jar, fill with vegetable oil – PRESTO! – you have your frame. You can add other things, like rocks or sand to the bottom, as well as dried flowers. Fun, affordable and cool!

The oil gives the photo a translucent effect and actually preserves the photo, giving it an aged-yellowed look.
